Know Yourself, PBC is a Self Literacy company on a mission to prepare all young people to understand their self worth. Know Yourself accomplishes this mission by developing educational products that guide young people on a journey of Self-Discovery that helps them understand who they are physically, psychologically and socially in a fun, dynamic and engaging way. In the last two weeks, Know Yourself won the Nautilus Award, two Tillywig Awards and was nominated for an Oakland Indie Award.
“We are beyond honored for this recognition,” said Nancy Howes, founder and CEO. “I started this company in response to my young daughter’s innate curiosity about how her own body worked, and now we are on a mission to ensure all young people have access to this critical information that provides tools for living more focused and fulfilling lives.”
Know Yourself values all people understanding their own Self Worth, being able to practice Self Advocacy and having an awareness of who they are on this earth and in their communities. They call this Self Literacy, which Howes has defined as a foundational knowledge of anatomy, physiology and psychology and how those three things work together.
Now in its 18th year, the Nautilus Awards recognize “ exceptional literary contributions to spiritual growth, conscious living, high-level wellness, green values, responsible leadership and positive social change as well as to the worlds of art, creativity and inspirational reading for children, teens and young adults ”. Know Yourself won the Nautilus Silver Award in the Children’s Illustrated Non-Fiction for their first book, Dr. Bonyfide Presents: Bones of the Hand, Arm and Shoulder .
Know Yourself won the Tillywig Brain Child Award in both the categories of Toys and Games and Books and Magazines for The Anatomy Adventure Series and their 3rd book, Dr Bonyfide Presents Bones of the Rib Cage and Spine . The Brain Child Award is given to “ exciting products that energize the mind while seamlessly blending fun and learning. ”
“We believe that young people who are on a pathway toward Self Literacy are healthier, happier and more empowered to control their own well-being,” concluded Howes. “We need more of this information in our schools, and in our homes, to ensure that our youth are fully prepared to successfully engage in a 21st century society no matter their chosen career or life path.”
Know Yourself is dedicated to guiding people everywhere toward an understanding of their value as embodied beings here on earth.
