Know Yourself to hold Family Friendly Company Launch Party on Saturday November 21, at the Impact Hub Oakland
(OAKLAND, Calif., November 17, 2015) –
Know Yourself – the Oakland-based creative media company dedicated to making self literacy a vital part of education – will launch its public benefit corporation (PBC) and flagship product – a 12-part adventure series aimed at helping children discover how their minds and bodies work – this Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at the Impact Hub Oakland from 1-4 PM.
Admission to the Know Yourself launch event is free, and those who RSVP at http://bit.ly/1l3bhxW will be entered in the grand prize raffle event featuring Know Yourself products, PLAE shoes, and local company gift certificates. Catering is provided by local restaurant Calavera, and children can participate in hands-on activities themed around the body’s five sense. Music is provided by DJ Basta. The launch offers an opportunity to meet the talented, Oakland-based writers and artists working to create a lively and educational experience that helps children learn about their body from the inside out.
Delivered monthly, each adventure in the series includes a Time Skaters comic, science experiments, historical lessons and healthy recipes all designed around engaging core content to give children ages 8-14 the information they need to learn about vital systems of the body, while also bringing hours of fun and productive entertainment to their families. The Time Skaters comic series is inspired by the West Oakland grassroots initiative, Town Park.
“The launch of our company and this exciting adventure series is the next big step in the Self Literacy movement that’s changing the way children learn about their bodies at an early age,” said Nancy Howes, founder and CEO of Know Yourself.
